Dr. Sahyoun has a PhD in Laboratory Medicine from the United Kingdom and 19 international publications from his post-doctoral research. He moved to Jordan in 1981 and recognized the need to evolve the business model of medical laboratories from a one-man-show to a more effective group practice model. In 1993 Dr. Sahyoun co-founded MedLabs Consultancy Group through the merger of four medical laboratories headed by 4 consultants. 27 yeas on, MedLabs is an integral enterprise that has become the fastest growing network of private laboratories in the Middle East with 44 laboratories in Jordan carrying the Jordanian Healthcare Accreditation Council (HCAC) quality accreditation and five laboratories in Palestine and five laboratories in Iraq. MedLabs also includes a highly advanced regional Reference Laboratory in Jordan that has achieved the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the ISO 15189 quality accreditations. This laboratory receives thousands of samples daily from over 200 laboratories across the Middle East, Arabian Gulf and North Africa. Dr. Sahyoun has been a prominent figure in the Jordanian private healthcare sector for 40 years, serving on several committees with the Ministry of Health and Higher Health council, and is known throughout the region as a pioneer in the field of medical laboratory science and management. In 2017 he was elected to be head of the Medical Laboratories Association in Jordan. In December 2018, Dr. Sahyoun was honored with a Doctor of Science award from the University of Bradford, UK in recognition of his contribution to laboratory medicine.
